Commercial
Success
The
Eidsvold Station cattle's depth of breeding shone out at the Eidsvold
Show on May 4th. The show
was hotly contested from a large field of Santa Studs and commercial
cross-bred cattle. Eidsvold
Station was once again awarded the Most Successful Exhibitor AND
Champion Carcase of the show.
Our
18-month old purebred Santas in the trial averaged 2.24 kg/head/day
for 100 days, after being run on pasture since weaning, to average 630
kg, which was $1320.00 per head – a nice return for 18 month old
steers. Thirteen of the top fifteen weight gainers in the Show’s
feedlot trial were Eidsvold Station steers. Once again the pure-bred
Eidsvold Station Santa Gertrudis proved themselves superior in the
feedlot, meatworks, weight for age and finishing ability, resulting in
a very profitable animal.
In
August, a number of Greenup Eidsvold Station steers will complete 100
days of grain feeding at Morgans’ feedlot and head to the Brisbane EKKA.
They have settled in and are doing well.
We are excited about our entries in the Prime Cattle Section;
keep your eyes out for them if you’re down there.

Artificial
Insemination Program.
The
Greenup & Eidsvold Station cows welcome their new stud sire,
"Rosevale Basalt" who was purchased at the 2007 Rosevale
Annual Sale for the top price of $32,000. His semen has been
used extensively in the Greenup and Eidsvold Station AI programs and
was run with heifers at Cardowan. Click
here to see more of our sires. An
extensive AI program is underway at Cardowan & Eidsvold Station
using semen from exclusively polled sires: Wilgaroon Jester, Tyndale
Noddy, and Rosevale Basalt. Click here to see the AI program in
action. |
This
large herd acquisition of a premier stud herd will enable us to select from more cattle and
increase the breeding pressure we place on our bulls and cows. This expansion
will mean our clients can select from over 500 bull
annually. More
Cattle . . . . More Choices.
